Costs and Fees
Costs and Fees
With regard to the reimbursement of costs and fees, there are a number of options that we will look at together with you during our first consultation.
In first instance it is interesting to look into what extent your legal insurance covers your legal fees. This is by standard included in many insurance policies (e.g. in car insurance or the family insurance). By presentation of your insurance documents we will look to what extent you are covered.
In the occasion that you are not covered by your legal insurance, and you believe that you qualify for pro-bono assistance (https://www.prodeoadvocaat.vlaanderen/Pro-deo-ook-voor-u/Inkomensgrenzen-pro-deo), then - depending on the nature of the problem and the location of the eventual procedure - we can act under the pro-bono coverage. This will always be discussed during an initial consultation, and if you can provide the necessary documents with a view to filing a pro bono application, and it turns out that you actually qualify on the basis of your family income, the office may also be able to act for you on a pro bono basis if necessary.
If you do not fall under either of the above two situations, a cost and fee agreement will be made. Depending on the nature and complexity of the case, this can be done in a flat-rate formula or at an hourly rate to be agreed upon.
Specific costs are always passed on in full to the client.
Since January 1, 2014, the services of lawyers are also subject to VAT. Therefore, all fees (barring exemptions) should be increased by 21% VAT.
